Summer Fun
One of the best things about summer in Chicago is the various neighborhood festivals going on nearly every weekend. Tonight we went to Lincoln Park Summer Fest with some friends and drank sangria and listened to 80s cover bands. Very fun! Afterwards we all went for pizza at the delicious Bricks Pizza, an underground restaurant in Old Town. We're loving the nice weather this summer!

Incredible Concert!
Last night we went to an incredible concert - Bela Fleck's new gig - The Sparrow Quartet with Abigail Washburn. It was awesome. I had to drag Megan along - bluegrass is not normally her thing. But her patience was rewarded with the blissful tunes of two banjos, a cello and a violin. How could this possibly sound good, you ask? Well, it does. Bela Fleck has played every genre of music possible on the banjo, including jazz and classical, and it actually rocks. So, it's no surprise that he would team up with Abigail, an up-and-coming singer-songwriter with a penchant for Chinese culture and playing the banjo. Not to mention her voice is really beautiful. Click here to pull up their album on iTunes! I really recommend going to see them. To see the tour schedule, click here then click on tour at the bottom of the page. The best part about last night was that the show was right around the corner from our place at The Old Town School of Folk. Nothing like walking three minutes to a concert in your neighborhood! No parking or hour car ride! Yay!

Fun Night with Friends
Last night we went to a Mexican restaurant with a fun group of friends. Basically, it was a margarita-fest, but it was lots of fun! The waitress couldn't get the whole group in the photo, so we had to have to separate pictures.

Speaking of Barack...
Chicago was chosen as one of the four finalists for the 2016 Olympics! Yay! The little ceremony was in front of Megan's building so she got a tip that none other than Barack Obama would make a surprise appearance! So we met up during lunch hour and scoped it out. Daley Plaza was packed.

The Graduate
Last week we traveled to Tulsa for Stephanie's high school graduation. It was so nice being back at Holland Hall, nearly ten years to the day since our own graduation from Holland Hall. Steph looked beautiful in her dress, and we're still having a hard time believing that she's out of school and moving up here in the fall to go to DePaul. Time does fly...
Lisa and Niel made the trip from London, and it was really great getting to spend time with them. Dave and his girlfriend, Lyndsey, were also in town for the big event. We all went to Grand Lake for a night and did lots of hanging out at John's family's house. Lots of fun!
Congrats Stephanie! We are so proud of you and can't wait for you to move up here in the fall!
