Royal Watch!

This morning I met some friends at Sarah's house to watch the royal wedding. Sarah DVR'ed it -- there was no way I was getting up to watch the festivities at 4:00 a.m.! The party was complete with tea, scones, and paper crowns (although the only one who actually wore a crown was the dog). The wedding was beautiful - we've all decided that we want one of those ridiculous feathered hats that British people wear, or at least I want one for the Derby party I'm going to next weekend. Even though I had to go to work afterward (total buzz kill), this was such a fun way to start my day!

New Favorite: Friendship Chinese Restaurant

Several months ago I bought a Groupon for Friendship Chinese Restaurant in Logan Square. John had eaten there a couple of years ago for his work holiday party and raved about how good it was, so I thought I should see if it held to my picky standards. Scott and Steph joined us as well, and I can say that we all were very impressed. I'm not a sushi eater, but the restaurant just hired a sushi chef who used to be Peter Jennings' personal sushi chef and who also worked for several other celebs. I can't say how it tasted, but it looked awesome (the sushi eaters at the table said it was great). There is a serious shortage of Chinese food in the city -- the asian cuisine market seems to be taken up by Thai restaurants -- so this was definitely a welcome find! The neighborhood was kind of iffy, but I did some research and saw that there is another location in Streeterville right on the lake. The lake front location has an outdoor deck, so we will definitely have to hit that location up once the weather is nicer.

Yummy food -- can't wait to go back!

Hint of Spring

Yesterday it got to a whopping 82 degrees here in Chicago! Chicagoans came out in droves to enjoy the first warm day of the season. We did our part to enjoy the weather by going to Wishbone for brunch, then heading home to read on our balcony. The warmth is short-lived, unfortunately -- we are in the 50s today.

We brought Sofia out to enjoy the weather, too!

Girls Night Out

Last night I went out to Blokes and Birds, a great restaurant/bar in Lakeview, to celebrate my friend Sarah's birthday. It was such a great place! Not only was the food great, but the restaurant's logo is a mustache! After that, we hit another local bar and were all home by 11:30 because we're old.

Coincidentally, yesterday was Simon's ninth birthday, and the thirteenth anniversary of John and I being together. Lots of things to celebrate!
