Bowling Night

Last night we had dinner at Nicole's house with some friends and walked across the street to Diversey Rock and Bowl for some bowling (I sat that part out). The girls were more into chatting than bowling, but the guys took it very seriously. John even won the first game - when did he get so good at bowling?! Such a fun way to spend a hot July night!

Family, John's Birthday, and Big News

We've had a busy couple of weeks with family in town two weekends in a row, not to mention celebrating John's birthday month, I mean week. Last weekend my mom was in town for a visit, and John's dad made his way to Chicago after his annual golf trip in Wisconsin. My mom's visit was planned around our big ultrasound, which was Monday the 11th. We are so excited that we are having a boy! I think we would be just as excited if they had told us that the baby was a girl, but it's great to be able to plan now that we know what we're having -- it just makes it all seem so much more real. December can't get here soon enough!

John turned 32 on July 13th, and his mom was in town this weekend to celebrate. We ate lots of delicious meals over the last two weekends (eating out is always a big thing to do when we have parents in town), so we really need to detox this week!

It's really super hot here, but not as hot as back in Oklahoma, where it's been over 100 degrees for so many days I can hardly count them. We are definitely glad we aren't there, but we could use a little cool down ourselves! We will likely be taking it easy inside in the air conditioning, which means that we won't have anything interesting to blog about until it cools down a little.

Early birthday celebration with John and his dad at Hub 51.

John's birthday cake looks pretty tiny next to my belly!
