Michigan Girls Weekend

Last weekend some girlfriends and I traveled to South Haven, Michigan for some girl time and fun in the sun. South Haven was absolutely adorable - I felt like we were in the Hamptons or some other fun east coast spot. We stayed in a fun cabin right on the lake and went out in downtown South Haven on Saturday night - eating at a super cute Italian place called Tello and experiencing the nightlife. This was the perfect little weekend getaway. In fact, John and I are going to try to go up there in August or September for a weekend. Thanks for organizing such a fun weekend for us, Nicole!

Much nicer and more peaceful than the Chicago side of Lake Michigan.

I have officially decided that being sober on girls' nights out sucks.

Happy 80th Birthday, Nannie!

We've been busy with lots of fun activities! A couple of weeks ago we traveled to Tulsa for a surprise 80th birthday party for my grandmother. Her real birthday is July 5th, but due to scheduling issues with everyone involved, we had to have the party a few weeks early, which worked out perfectly because she wasn't even remotely suspecting anything.

It was so nice to see so many friends and family members who have been special to Sybil over the years. While it was super hot (at least for these Chicagoans), everyone had a really good time.

Surprise!

Our cousins from Texas - Jesi, Fadra, and Donna. It's been years since we've seen them!

Glee Concert!

Last night we braved the hoards of annoying tween girls to attend the Glee concert at the Allstate Arena. When we got there, our seats did not exist due to some complications with one of the stages, so we were upgraded to the 10th row! Call me a Glee-tard, but it was one of the best concerts I've attended! The cast members really can sing, which totally refutes John's hypothesis that they are just mediocre singers whose voices have been improved with autotune. They are really great performers - overall the concert exceeded our expectations. Our ears are still ringing from all the screams from the annoying tween girls, though.

We've been lounging for most of today. I went to a delicious brunch spot this morning with my friends - Kanela. It is definitely a keeper! It's a super hot one here in Chicago, so I'm spending the rest of the day inside.

Below are some pictures of the concert:

Our seats were on an aisle, so the cast walked right by us when they would go between stages.
