Saturday in the Park

(cue cheesy Chicago song)

I was set to spend the week out of town for a trial, but it thankfully settled on what was scheduled to be the first day of trial.  In preparation for the week away, I spent every spare moment I could over the weekend with Henry and John.  Saturday we took a wagon ride to our neighborhood park so that Henry could run around in the open. He had a good time practicing his walking skills around the play area but was not the least bit interested in any of the fun toys.

Now that my trial has settled, I hope to have a lot more free time on the weekends to spend with my two favorite guys.

Happy V-Day, Y'all!

I normally don't get into Valentine's Day. It is a Hallmark holiday after all. However, for whatever reason I'm really enthusiastic about it this year. I put up Valentine's decorations, made some Valentine's-themed letters, and even made Henry's Valentine's for his school party. Apparently this phony holiday has turned me into a regular Martha Stewart!  We don't have any plans - dinner out on V-day is such a racket - but it will be fun to celebrate at home with Henry nonetheless.  Happy Heart Day!

We even got some "real" Valentines in the mail!

Henry's Valentines for his school party. They are completely homemade, right down to the envelope. Next year he will have cheap He-Man ones from Target.

Take Us Back to Chicago

Last weekend we took a long-awaited trip to Chicago to visit friends and get a taste of some actual wintery weather.  We had an absolute blast, and being back made us realize just how much we miss our big city life.

Every second of the trip was packed with some activity or another. The highlights:
  • Met my friend, Lauren's, adorable twin boys. They are way adorable in pics but they are even cuter in person. So glad I finally got to meet those precious boys!
  • Had dinner with my friend (and former assistant), Patrick. Miss.Him.So.Much.
  • My old firm let me crash their bi-monthly attorney lunch. Instead of talking about boring law stuff, we caught up on the past eight months and let me share stories about my shenanigans in Tulsa.  Wish I could have brought all of them back in my suitcase!
  • John visited his old office a couple of times, and had lunch with his boss at a real live taco place (still looking for one here - will probably be looking forever).
  • I met my brunch group for a delicious dinner at Balena. The food and drinks were great, but the company and conversation were even better. It was as if I never left - miss you girls more than ever!
  • John met up with Jeff Knight, Danny Vallejos, and Jim Manhart for dinner and drinks. Such a bummer for him that three of his best friends live in Chicago (especially since Jeff moved back just as we were moving and Danny moved there a few weeks ago). But it just gives us another excuse to visit more often!
  • Hit up lots of our favorite places, including Opart Thai with Scott and Steph.
We had such an amazing time and can't wait to go back!

Jeff, Jim, Danny, and me - I crashed their guys night. Couldn't resist!

Patrick and me in Patrick's cube (also known as the scene of many a crazy work moment).

Meg, me, Lauren, and Molly at Berger Schatz. I hung out there all day. I'm surprised they didn't call security to remove me.

At Belena with the girls. Miss them!

A Major Catch-Up

I'm a pathetic blogger.  It has been almost six weeks since I last posted. The year is just flying by - I can hardly believe that February is already halfway finished! Lots has happened in the past month. Henry started eating real people foods, and he is officially a walker! He grew into a full-fledged toddler in what seemed like overnight - I don't think I'm ready for this!

Other than these rather important milestones, everything else has been pretty much the same. I've been working my arse off getting ready for a big trial later this month, and John has been playing the role of Mr. Mom quite nicely. I don't know what I would do without him!  Below are some pics of the happenings (or lack thereof) from the past few weeks. I promise to do better with the blogging!
